Terms of use

1. What is Farflung?

Farflung is a daily geography game at farflung.cc, run by Farflung LLC (“we”, “us”). These terms are an agreement between you and us. You accept them by signing in, by pressing Accept when asked in the game, or by playing. If you don’t agree, don’t play.

2. Who can play

Farflung isn’t meant for children under 13. If you are under 18, or the age of majority where you live, you may play only with a parent’s or guardian’s permission.

3. Your account

If you sign in with Google, keep your Google account secure. You are responsible for activity through your sign-in.

4. Answer lists and results

• Our rulings explain which answers count. Our decisions on answer lists are final.
• We may correct answer lists and count results again; a correction can turn a miss into a find.

5. Playing fair

Don’t:

• use bots, scripts or other automation to play;
• manipulate results, including through extra players or repeated attempts at a daily expedition;
• extract unrevealed answers or future prompts, or tamper with game records;
• attack or disrupt the site, or get around its access or usage limits;
• use the game to break the law or infringe anyone’s rights.

We may block access, close accounts, and remove or exclude results that break these rules.

6. Your content

• Results: Share your results wherever you like.
• Feedback: We may use reports, suggestions and answer disputes you send us, in our rulings or elsewhere, without owing you anything.
• Privacy: Our privacy policy explains what data we keep, why, and your choices and rights.

7. Our rights

• Our original content, design, artwork, sounds and code belong to us or our licensors.
• We give you personal permission to play and share your results, which we may revoke. Copying prompts or answer lists wholesale, or reusing the game’s design, needs our permission unless the law or an applicable licence allows it.
• We may change, pause or end the game, or any part of it, at any time.

8. Third-party licences

The game includes third-party software notices and licences. Word-frequency data comes from wordfreq (CC BY-SA 4.0).

9. Disclaimers

Farflung comes “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law allows, we give no express or implied warranties, including availability, accuracy, freedom from errors or fitness for a particular purpose.

10. Limitation of liability

As far as the law allows, neither Farflung LLC nor its members, managers or contractors are liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for lost data, profits or goodwill, arising from the game or these terms. Our total liability for all claims about the game or these terms is limited to US$100.

These limits do not cover fraud, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or liability the law does not let us limit. You keep your mandatory consumer rights.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do:

• We update the “Effective” date at the top.
• For significant changes, we tell you with a notice in the game.
• If you keep playing after the change, you accept the new terms.
